GOGREEN Service
GOGREEN is a carbon-neutral shipping option for customers of DHL and Deutsche Post, now available for DHL Express customers in more than 35 countries.
With the GOGREEN optional service, all transport-related emissions of carbon dioxide are first calculated and then offset through external climate protection projects.
Business customers can choose to send all or a selection of their international express shipments as GOGREEN. Business customers who use the GOGREEN service receive GOGREEN stickers to place on their shipments, as well as an annual certificate stating the total amount of carbon dioxide which was offset on their behalf during the year.
The carbon credits generated from external climate protection projects are managed by our in-house Carbon Management team. Carbon Management, all GOGREEN processes and the emissions-calculation methodology are verified annually by a third-party verifier, SGS.

In September 2010, DHL Express made its DHL GOGREEN EXPRESS service available to customers in Russia. The service allows customers to offset the carbon emissions generated during the transportation of their shipments.
DHL GOGREEN EXPRESS was first announced and applied at the World Economic Forumin Davos in 2007 and became the first service of its kind in the logistics industry. By 2009, Deutsche Post DHL had carried over 1 billion shipments marked with the GOGREEN label. The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen was a customer, which opted to use the service in 2009.
The optional service to offset CO2 emissions is aimed at companies who understand the need to employ ecologically-friendly solutions, including in the shipping of their goods and materials. In choosing to use DHL GOGREEN EXPRESS, even today you will be taking part in international climate projects, and at the same time confirming your acceptance of social responsibility in front of your own partner and customers.
In order to use the DHL GOGREEN EXPRESS optional service, you simply need to sign an appendix to your existing contract with DHL, which will confirm an additional surcharge of 3% to your standard tariffs. As part of the service, DHL will then calculate the volume of CO2 emissions created during the transportation of every shipment from pick-up until delivery, and will then offset them with investments in climate protection programs around the world. Customers who offset a particular level of emissions will receive a certificate confirming in detail their positive contribution to the environment.
The precision and transparency of DHL’s patented methodology for calculating emissions are confirmed through an annual audit and certification process conducted by the independent non-governmental association Societe Generale de Surveillance (Switzerland).
